Relationship of Creativity to Failure

Relationship of Creativity to Failure
PreviousWhen You Fail Do It Well and today I am exploring the relationship of creativity to failure.

Be Creative, Play More

Enjoy your business. Do you enjoy your business? Is it fun? When was the last time you had a 'great day' and really enjoyed working in your business?

One of the ways to have more fun is to play in your business. I particularly enjoy doing creative stuff including redesigning my blog, creating graphics, and writing. I will play around with ideas, lots of ideas and a number of I do not ever use. In the purest sense I fail often because I explore lots of ideas that I never use.

Try, Play, Evolve

Coming up with an original idea a true challenge because on the road to creating something original you will need to explore a number of concepts and ideas. A number of ideas will be discovered, tested, and discarded until you find exactly what you are looking for.

Avoid the 'Risk It All' Mentality

Do not confuse my exhortations about failure according tomission to 'risk it all'. In fact I am not suggesting that anyone assume any risk they are not comfortable taking.

Rather take a measured and calculated approach by experimenting with ideas and concepts by playing with your idea. Designers do this when they sit down with a pencil and paper to sketch out ideas.

How to Explore, Play and Develop Your Own Business Ideas

Depending on your learning style you could doodle, write, create a mind map to develop business ideas. Others include researching on the Internet to see who else has written on the topic and what they have to say.

Whatever approach you feel most comfortable with the value of the exercise is to get 'it' out of your head. Something important happens when you look at your idea down on paper, computer screen, or read an article on the topic - you gain a fresh perspective.

The reason that getting your ideas out of your head is so powerful is because it provides distance between you and the idea. Allowing you to see it afresh. Take some time today to play with your ideas and get them out of your head.
